Pure Green tea, a unique loose tea of Gun Powder (GP 1 special), derives its name from the way it looks – it looks like real gunpowder; granular appearance. And, which in the process of producing tea, is not fermented or without oxidation. The hand-picked tea buds are from High-grown and Mid-grown tea regions in the central highlands of Sri Lanka.  

The flavour profile of green tea is softer than that of black tea from Ceylon, making it ideal for making a light, mellow cup of tea with lovely aroma and refreshing taste.

Prepare your perfect cup of tea 

• Spring water
• 700C – 800 C
• 2-2.5 g (one standard tea spoon) per person
• 200 ml of water per person
• 2-3 Minutes  

High-Grown and Mid-grown Ceylon Green Tea 

Ceylon green tea is cultivated in both high-grown and mid-grown regions of Sri Lanka, with the seeds originating from China, Indonesia, Japan, and Brazil. The high-grown areas, such as Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula, Uda Pussellawa, produce a bright yellow tea with a sweet taste, while the mid-grown regions like Badulla and Kandy offer a mellow and smooth flavour profile. 

High-grown tea region 

Situated in the elevated central highlands of Sri Lanka, this tea-growing region is known for producing high-quality tea. The plantations here thrive at heights exceeding 6000 feet above sea level. 

Nuwara-Eliya 

This region stands out as one of the premier tea-growing areas in the country. Renowned for producing a variety of high-quality teas, including the green tea, this district continues to be a key player in the country's tea industry. 

Uda Pussellawa  

While being a neighbour to Nuwara-Eliya, the climate of the Uda Pussellawa region is quite different due to its location. The tea itself is slightly darker and appears more potent in flavour compared to the tea found in the Nuwara-Eliya region.  

Dimbulla 

In the picturesque area between Hatton and Nuwara Eliya lies the enchanting location of Dimbulla, renowned for its golden-orange hues and crisp, refreshing aftertaste. 

Mid-grown tea regions 

Mid-grown tea is cultivated at elevations ranging from 2000 to 4000 feet above sea level, predominantly in the Central and Uva provinces of Sri Lanka. 

Badulla 

Budulla is a renowned tea-producing area situated in the Uva province of Sri Lanka. The teas from this region are celebrated for their delicate and velvety notes, offering a one-of-a-kind flavor profile that sets them apart from teas found elsewhere in the country. 

Kandy 

Kandy, the hill capital famous for the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, is a highly sought-after destination for tourists visiting Sri Lanka. Renowned for its exquisite beauty and historical significance, Kandy is also renowned for producing high-quality mid-grown tea, known for its vibrant and full-bodied flavour.
